Our History

Kerio Valley Community Organization (KVCO) began in its operations as a grassroots Community based organization in 2009. During this period, it partnered with other CBOs in training and championing for gender and community rights. In 2013 KVCO was registered with the Non-Governmental Co-ordination Board of Kenya as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focused on Advocacy, Livelihood Change and Poverty Alleviation among rural communities based in the Kerio Valley in the Northern Rift Valley, Kenya. It aims to advocate for people’s rights on land, environment and natural resources. It also aims to empower communities through social change approaches by embracing community capacity-building on socio-economic, governance, peace building, research and networking towards sustainable development.
KVCO operates in an environment that fosters respect, tolerance, peace and common action among all stakeholders in pursuit of community rights, environmental sustainability, social change, peaceful cohesion and economic wellbeing of all the people. We strive to act as a catalyst in the promotion of tolerance, mobilization of joint efforts to respond effectively to community rights, social and economic needs of the people. KVCO works closely with communities and like-minded organizations to achieve these objectives and aspirations.
The Organization’s offices are based in Kabarnet, Baringo County, with a liaison office in Nairobi, Kenya.
